Many of our clients have been receiving emails purporting to be from Barclays Bank. The email advises that a payment (for differing amounts) has been credited to your account. Contained as an Attachment, a ZIP file shows as the payment remittance.
Needless to say, the email is a fake and the ZIP file contains a virus. Delete this email without opening it. I have shown here what the email looks like.
We have traced the source of the email from an ISP in the Netherlands, using the IP address 94.100.20.18. PC Repair Leeds have reported this spammer to the relevant ISP and Barclays Bank are also looking into tracing the senders.
As always, keep alert when strange emails arrive and ensure your anti-virus software is up to date. If you have any queries, contact PC Repair Leeds today.
