A new start menu for Windows 8.1 or 10

Windows 10 start menu

Window 10 is here to stay whether we like it or not. Our Clients generally are not keen on Windows 10 because the start menu is so different from Windows 7. As a nation, we are used to click start and then clicking on the relevant program or file. Windows 10 wants you to type the program or file you want which is still very controversial.

If you have Windows 10, or have chosen to stick with Windows 8.1, you can still have the luxury of a standard start menu.

A company called Lee-Soft have designed a very simple but effective Windows 7 style start menu, called Vi-Start. The program is free and also advert free. The install is very simple. Go to http://lee-soft.com/vistart/ and click on the download option. The file is only 1.2MB. Follow the onscreen instructions. Once installed, you will feel in control of your operating system again, just like you did with Windows 7.

Company’s like Lee-Soft design simple programs and often will do so on a donation basis. If you like the program, we do encourage you to donate to the developer.
