Synology has launched another AI-powered surveillance NAS. The DVA1622 is a 2-bay NAS aimed at consumers and small businesses. See here for a link to the full article from Synology. Just like the DVA3221 released last year, Synology improves the deep video analytic capabilities of its models but at a lower price.
Surveillance NAS for home and small business
The DVA models are an all-in-one NAS and surveillance hub. Small businesses no longer need to worry about setting up complicated monitoring systems and network servers. With these DVA models, it’s all here. Although the DVA1622 is limited to 2 bays compatible with 3.5” disks, with capacities always improving it should be enough for consumers and small business with 16TB hard drives being widely available.
Artificial intelligence improves your security
DVA stands for Deep-learning Video Analytics. Tony Lin, Synology’s product manager for surveillance said the DVA1622 model has been designed with small business and home users in mind. “That doesn’t just mean right-sizing its capacity, but also adding additional features to make sure that it can be used with a monitor, mouse, and keyboard as an all-in-one, standalone surveillance solution.”
Humans monitoring cameras? That’s old school
Artificial Intelligence (AI) can improve security and make it more efficient by identifying threats without the need for a human to actively monitor camera feeds. AI can detect people and even recognise who is authorised to be where they are. It can send alerts if somebody enters a pre-defined area. It can count foot traffic and even how many cars drive by. It can alert of suspicious activity and break-ins.
There are so many uses for DVA1622 it certainly warrants the price of £650. Can you see the benefit of using an AI surveillance NAS?
