Precinct is the software arm of QLine IT. It builds the software your business actually runs on. Not websites. The helpdesk, the stock control, the remote access, the paperwork nobody wants to type twice.

It started because we needed it ourselves. QLine IT was paying over £1,000 a month for a helpdesk that could not tell the difference between a customer and one of their forty buildings, paying again for remote access, and paying again for a tool that read supplier invoices. So we built our own, and then businesses started asking who did it.

Everything on this page marked live is in daily use by a working UK company, not demonstrated in a sales meeting.

Precinct, bespoke business software from QLine IT

Ten systems, nine of them live today

Each one was built for a working UK company. Most run QLine IT every day; the rest run our clients' businesses.

Helpdesk and ticketing

A full support desk replacing a well known subscription product. Email in and out on a shared inbox, triage on arrival, calls recorded and attached to the job, a customer portal and time tracking. 37,147 tickets and 63,009 time entries were moved into it in four days. A second IT company now runs its own tailored copy.

Remote support and PC management

Written from scratch and self hosted, replacing two paid subscriptions. Remote control of PCs and Macs, one approval to run a script across many customers' PCs, and a software list for every machine. A security key tap approves every script and every remote session, so even a hacked server cannot run code on a customer's PC.

Haulage and transport

Built for a UK haulage firm, replacing the transport package they had outgrown. Jobs, drivers, trucks and trailers in one place, texts to drivers, QR job sheets and proof of delivery scanning, a fleet calendar, and a map that works out lorry road miles.

Staffing and front desk

Timesheets, holiday and payroll in one place, fed automatically by a reception tablet where visitors and staff sign in and out, with a fire roll call at a tap.

Serialised stock control

Purchase orders, goods in, and every unit tracked by its own serial number through locations, charge outs and returns, with real per unit cost and margin.

Accounts checks, password vault and care home wifi

Bookkeeping checks that list every payment with no invoice behind it and send a short to-do list each morning. A team password vault run on UK servers. And wifi control for care homes, so managers can change a young person's curfew without being given the keys to the whole network.

Bills, still in build

Supplier invoices will arrive at one address, be read automatically and be matched against the purchase order they belong to, with a person approving each one before it reaches the accounts.

Built by people who do security for a living

Most software companies bolt security on at the end. We came at it from the other direction. QLine IT spends its days keeping other businesses’ networks safe and being audited on it, and the same habits go into the software.

QLine IT holds Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus. The Plus is the one that matters, because an external assessor tests the systems hands on rather than taking our word from a questionnaire.

Sign in is through Microsoft, using your existing Microsoft 365 accounts and your existing multi factor authentication. When somebody leaves, disabling their account removes their access to everything, immediately.

There is no login page on the open internet. Systems sit behind authenticated tunnels rather than open ports, so there is no front door for somebody to stand at and try passwords against.

An audit trail is designed in from day one. Who did what, to which record, and when, so the day somebody asks the question it is already answered.

Your data stays in the UK, on UK servers by default. Call recordings, transcripts and anything else that would hurt if it leaked are restricted, logged and kept only as long as you actually need them.

Your own system, not a shared platform

Each customer gets their own tailored copy, so your records are never mixed in with anybody else’s. A deletion or subject access request is a conversation with the people who run your system, not a ticket in a queue at a vendor on another continent.

Nothing of yours trains anything. Your tickets, your customers and your documents are not used to improve a model, ours or anybody else’s. Read more about security and GDPR.

Where the AI sits, and where it does not

“AI powered” is on every software website in Britain and means almost nothing. Here is exactly where it sits in what we build.

Inside the software, it removes the typing. Tickets are read on arrival and come with a summary, a suggested priority and the questions that need answering first. Calls are transcribed and attached to the job. Replies are checked before they go, so a reply that says “done” when the customer said “not until Sunday” is stopped. Reading supplier invoices is next, and is in build now.

In how it gets built, it is why you can afford this. Tailoring our system to your business is normally just a few hours’ work, which is why bespoke software can now be one simple monthly fee rather than a five figure project.

And a person still decides. Nothing leaves your building on a machine’s say so. When invoice reading goes live, every invoice will wait for a person to approve it. Emails to your customers are written by your staff. Triage suggests a priority, it does not set one. See what else AI could remove from your week.

Four steps, and nothing starts until you have seen the price

We talk to the people doing the work and see how it actually arrives, not how the process document says it does. Then you get a simple quote: a one off set-up fee and one monthly fee, so you know exactly what you will pay before anything starts. If it is not worth it to you, you have lost an hour and so have we.

If you say yes, we tailor our system to your business and move your history into it, every record, note, attachment and logged hour. For most customers that is just a few hours’ work. Nothing is cancelled at your old supplier until you have checked your own data in the new system.

The monthly fee covers your tailored system, hosted, running and looked after by us, plus all the minor changes you need during the year. There is no charge per user and no charge per item of stock, so adding your tenth employee or your fiftieth does not move the bill. Bigger additions come as bolt-ons, each for a small monthly fee. The contract is a simple 12 months, then month to month. If two systems you already use do not talk to each other, we can build the link between them instead.

Tell us what your current systems will not let you do

Half an hour on the phone, no slides. You will speak to the people who build it, not a salesperson working from a script. If buying off the shelf is the right answer for your business, we will say so and you will have lost thirty minutes.

Precinct is a QLine IT company, based in Leeds and working across the United Kingdom. See the full detail, including every system we have built and the numbers behind the changeover, at precinctsoftware.co.uk.

Questions we're asked

How much does bespoke software cost?

One simple monthly fee on a 12-month contract, then month to month, plus a one-off set-up fee that is normally just a few hours’ work. You know both before anything starts. There is no charge per user or per item of stock, and minor changes during the year are included.

Who owns the software?

We do. You get your own version, tailored to your business, and we host it, look after it, keep it secure and keep improving it. That is what the monthly fee covers, so you never have to find a developer or worry about a server.

Can you move our data from our current system?

Yes. We move your history across, including records, notes, attachments and logged time, and nothing is cancelled at your old supplier until you have checked your own data in the new system.

You'll get one fixed number a month, in writing, before anything starts.
