IT support built around how an accountancy practice actually works
Accountants have a harder IT job than most businesses: you hold some of the most sensitive data a client can hand over, you depend on practice software that absolutely must work, and your year has deadlines that turn a minor IT problem into a genuine crisis. A server failure in June is annoying. The same failure on 25 January is a disaster.
QLine IT supports accountancy firms and bookkeeping practices with exactly that reality in mind: proactive monitoring that catches problems before they interrupt fee-earning work, secure and GDPR-compliant handling of client records, and support arrangements that recognise self assessment season is not the time for planned maintenance.
What we look after for accountancy firms

Practice software support
Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, IRIS, TaxCalc, Dext and the rest — we keep them updated, integrated and running, and we deal with the vendor when something breaks.

Client data security & GDPR
Encrypted storage, role-based access to client records, GDPR documentation and Cyber Essentials alignment — evidence you can show clients and your professional body.

Backup & disaster recovery
Tested, encrypted backups of practice data and email, with recovery times measured in hours, not weeks. Because “the backup had not run since March” is not a sentence you ever want to say.

Microsoft 365 & email
Licensing, migration and management of Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive — with the sharing controls locked down for confidential client files.

Hardware & remote working
Laptops, desktops, monitors and secure remote access, so partners and staff can work from home or client sites without weakening security.

VoIP & connectivity
Business phone systems and reliable internet — including call recording and hunt groups for busy practice front desks.
Making Tax Digital and the move to cloud accounting
Making Tax Digital has pushed almost every practice towards cloud accounting platforms, client portals and digital record-keeping — which is good news right up until the broadband fails or a staff member’s login is compromised. We help practices make the cloud transition safely: choosing the right mix of desktop and cloud software, setting up multi-factor authentication across every client-facing system, and making sure your internet connection (and its backup) is fit for a business that now cannot work without it.
If you are still running an on-premise server for practice software or historic client records, we will keep it healthy for as long as you need it — and plan the migration properly when the time comes, rather than in a panic when the hardware dies.
Deadline season support
We plan our support around your calendar, not ours. For accountancy clients that means no planned maintenance or disruptive changes in January or around key VAT and payroll deadlines, priority response when you are up against a filing date, and extra attention to backups during the periods when your data is changing fastest. If something does go wrong at 8pm on deadline week, you have a number to call that gets answered.
Frequently asked questions
How much does IT support cost for an accountancy firm?
Our managed contracts start from £120 per month for 5 computers, including monitoring, patching and unlimited remote helpdesk. Our pricing guide explains what IT support actually costs across the UK market. A typical small practice with a server or heavy compliance needs sits a little above that — we quote a fixed monthly figure per device so there are no surprises in your own P&L.
Do you support Sage, Xero, IRIS and QuickBooks?
Yes — practice and accounts software is daily work for us: installation, updates, integrations, data issues and dealing with the software vendor on your behalf. If you use something more niche, we will learn it before you need us to fix it.
How do you keep client data safe?
Encrypted storage, role-based access control, multi-factor authentication, tested backups and GDPR documentation as standard. We hold Cyber Essentials Plus certification ourselves and align clients with the same five controls.
Can you take over from our current IT provider without disruption?
Yes. Most handovers complete within two weeks: we take over passwords, licences, domains and documentation, run alongside your outgoing provider during the change, and schedule the switch well away from your filing deadlines.
Do you only work with accountants in Leeds?
No — we are Leeds-based and visit West Yorkshire practices on-site, but remote-first support means we look after firms across the UK with the same response times.
